COLUMBUS, Ohio — City Council approved new incentives Monday night in a bid to lure 1,000 new jobs to the city.
The council offered JPMorgan Chase a 35 percent job growth incentive for eight years and a 65 percent job creation tax credit for 10 years, 10TV News reported.
Columbus was competing for the jobs with other cities, but council members said their deal was best.
"We've been working very closely with the mayor's office to make sure we're putting the most competitive, aggressive package forward to Chase for their consideration," said council member Andrew Ginther.
If Chase accepts the package, the new jobs would be in the company's Polaris and Westerville locations.
The new jobs were expected to generation $4.5 million over eight years in new income tax revenue.
